For the webelos/cub scouts Pinewood Derby car race, is the scout supposed to apply sealer to the wood first? Does sealer get applied to the wood car (cutout from the wood block) first, or does the yellow (or green) paint get applied first? Both the color paint and the sealer/paint came in the custom finishing kit. The instructions aren't clear.
With NO rules whatsoever, how would you design a Pinewood Derby car? Our company is having all of its stores design and build a pinewood derby car (starting with the official BSA kit) and then racing them all at its annual manager's meeting. I thought this went against a law of gravity, that everything is affected by gravity at the same speed except for considering air resistance. I was asked to built a car, which I did and write a paragraph on how it is related to Newtons Laws. pinewood derby cars? we need some quick advice, we just had a practice race and my sons car is very fast but about 10 feet from the end it starts to shimmy in the front. i did check, and the front tire that touches is about a 1 deg tilted up not sure if that would be it or not. the other thing i was thinking is he put 3.5 o of weight in the back ind 1 in the front, could it be that there is not enough in the front?? please help us if you can

I need to find a website that allows you to determine a racing schedule for the pinewood derby.? Last year I found a website that allowed you to put in how many lanes your track has (3) and how many drivers you would have participating (around 30). It was wonderful. I am running our packs pinewood derby on March 22nd, and have not been able to find that site or another like it. I only remember it was free and it told you exactly which car(s) to race each time.

Where to find pinewood derby kits in bulk? Does anyone have a resource that will sell about 150 to 200 kits (including blocks and wheels) for a good price. I'm researching them as something to send underway on a submarine so I need full kits that will make cars that run as they can't go to the store for more parts. PINEWOOD DERBY EXPERTS??? My family has a pinewood derby race every year and they are obsessed with winning!? I have 6 Uncles and their sons along with my Brother, Father and Grandfather. I have married in Aunts as well who participate. I however am the only girl granddaughter and I would like to win this thing!!! Of course my first thought is search the internet for amazing tips....right? The problem is that they ALL search the internet. They are really crazy with their graphite, weights and little secrets! I also should mention that I come from a family of jewelers so they have any tool imaginable to drill, shape or create their car. I am looking for some expert physics or aerodynamics secrets. Something...that none of them would be able to find searching the internet. I know its a long shot but does anyone have any mathematical or engineering genius they could send my way. Any secret websites, surefire tips or designs? Last year I tried a C02 cartrige on one car. I was evidently the most creative but couldn't win cuz pinewood derby has specific guidelines! Hi, I have to make a rubber band car for my physics class but there are certain rules... - I may not propel the car in a slingshot fashion - My car must have at least 3 wheels - Only hpusehold items, not for the purpose for which you use them can be used - Looks count, so I have to make it as attractive as possible so I don't loose points. - No mousetraps are allowed - No propellers, sails, or balloons are allowed - No records, Cd's, or Dvd's are allowed - No lego's tinkerytoys, construx (etc.) or pinewood derby materials are allowed -No coffee cans or similar structures are allowed, (Including Soup, soda, and tuna cans.) Ok, now this has to be done by January 15, lots of time, but the sketch for what it's going to look like and how I'm going to make it is due tomorrow! What's the best model car for this physics project? We need to build a car travel at least 5m on its own power. We're allow triggering devices ONLY if it's attached to the car. We cannot use any sort of motor which is electrical or commercial (nor living). We're not allowed to use Pinewood Derby Kits, dangerous chemicals (or CO2 cartirdges), any sort of track, or string. Those are the rules, so anything that doesn't explicitly go aginst them works. What I'm mainly looking for is the best propulsion system to keep the car moving at its fastest. Any suggestions? @ wtjui I like the idea but could you be a little more specific on what you mean by stabilizer fins?
